Given all the road traffic, shoulderless roads, and steep elevation dropoffs on my ride this afternoon, I think it best to raise my water glass high in a toast to the bike riding gods then pray for a safe and uneventful ride.
The ride starts out on the level.
The winding, crystal clear, and ice cold McDonald Creek flows to my left.

I'm surrounded by tall, majestic mountains while still traveling on relativlely flat roadway. This is a good warm-up for what's in store for me on the road up ahead.
