Just outside of Bucksport, ME I get an unexpected surprise while crossing Penobscot River. My route takes me across an interesting yet neglected suspension bridge.

I find the bridge rather intriguing so I pull over to snap additional shots. I sense there is something special about this bridge, something historic. It looks regal, noble, and wise to me for some reason. Neglected but still proud, I hope they have plans to restore it. Having faithfully served the public for so long, it would be such a shameful waste to just let it die.

Views of the other side of the bridge serve up construction cranes and other heavy equipment. Seems they are actively restoring the old bridge back to its former glory.

Here are two pictures that show nearly the entire span of the bridge.

Looking the other way I'm greeted by a really nice view of the Penobscot River Valley. According to the sign, tragedy struck this place many, many yeas in 1779 during the American Revolution.
