Today will be my first day touring Washington, DC. I've been to D.C. once before, but only as a child. In all honesty, I don't remember much, probably because practically all of my early childhood memories are attached to fun events. So, I guess I really didn't have much fun time in D.C. on my first go around, but as an adult, I'm looking to change all that.

My trek to D.C. should be an easy and relatively painless experience, I decide to take the train into the Capitol. My drive to the train station will be a short one, College Park - University of MD Station is located a little ways from my current digs, an expansive Walmart parking lot in Laurel, MD.

The drive to the train station turns out to be predominantly interstate.

On the way I pass by this funky, 4-wheeled tribute. How appropriate, on my way to the Nation's Capitol, I run across American patriotism on the move.

Destination's end takes me to College Park, MD, where I park the van many, many blocks away from the train station because all the closer parking is by permit only. Bummer!

After a short walk I reach the train station. Soon thereafter, I'm swallowed up by the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority.
