Highlights: 252 foot tower, a good cardio workout with 116 steps and 60 ramps, tallest granite structure in the United States, great panoramic views.

Location: High Pole Hill Road, Provincetown, MA, 02657

Hours: April 1 thru November 30, 2005 - 9 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. (last admission), Extended hours during July and August - 9 a.m. to 6:15 p.m. (last admission), Pilgrim Monument will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 25, 2005.

Admission: $7 adults, $5 senior citizens (62 and older), $5 students (15 and older) with ID, $3.50 children 4-14, free admission members and children 3 and under, free admission to all - Sundays 9 a.m. noon

The entrance to the Pilgram Monument is rather subtle. No fanfare here, just a simple sign pointing the way.

Up the ramp I walk. Along the railing I see colorful flags, this must be the official graphic for National Monument to the Forefathers.

This placard greets me just outside the Provincetown Museum. Ha, that's funny. Apparently they've had problems in the past with people thinking there are restrooms in the monument? Indeed, being atop the tower in desperate need of facilities would definitely qualify as a tragic situation.
