Northwestern Wyoming

Not sure what this is.

More boardwalk. God, this is a long trail. So many geysers and pools, so little time.

"Giant Geyser was dormant for many years after an energy shift in 1955. Since then, it has slowly become active again. During 2000, it erupted more than fifteen times. Its spectacular eruptions last about an hour and can reach 250 feet. In between and during eruptions, smaller geysers on the same sinter platform may erupt."

"Watch out if Grotto Geyser is erupting - you could be sprayed as you walk by. This geyser erupts about every seven hours and splashes 10 feet for 1-1/2 to more than 10 hours. The weirdly shaped cone may have resulted from sinter covering the trees that once grew here."

At this point I have the option to continue on to see even more geysers but I have to admit I'm all geysered-out. It is time to head back. I've walked so far up the trail that the return trip back along this path promises to be rather long and anti-climatic. Ahhh, such is life.

Now that I've completed my tour, it's time to rate it. Boasting the densest concentration of geysers in the world, how can I give Yellowstone's Old Faithful Area anything less than 5 thumbs-up, a perfect rating!
