Highlights: Home of the U.S. Congress, North Wing (Senate), South Wing (House of Representatives), Central Dome, Capitol Rotunda.

Lowlights: Limited to what I could see because Congress was in session.

Location: Capitol Hill, Washington, D.C.

Hours: Guided tours conducted from 9:00am to 4:30pm Monday through Saturday.

Admission: Free!

Access: A variety of services are available to the handicapped.

Near or far, the U.S. Capitol Building appears to be somewhat omnipresent. It's probably because it's such a darn large structure. Also assisting to increase its visibility is its location at the east end of the National Mall, which effectively provides a long and narrow corridor to see the building from just about anywhere on the National Mall when looking east. I must say, this is a good example of great site planning and foresight on the part of the Capitol's architects.

Construction is going on near the U.S. Capitol Building. It's my understanding that they're in the process of doing some maintenance to the building's rooftop. In the right photo I photo-edited out the crane to give you an unencumbered view of the sight. This is the back of the Capitol Building.
