Having successfully completed my first mountain bike ride ever two days prior at Lewis River, my confidence has grown to the point where I'm ready to try something more technical. I'm finding I really enjoy the physical challenges of the sport as well as its inherent risks and dangers. This time around will be an elevation flip of my first ride. Today's ride will be an out and back with the out-leg all uphill on gravel and the return-leg all downhill on singletrack.

The day is proving to be a real scorcher. I'll need to bring along both water bladders and be sure to pace myself up the gravel road as I ascend 2,000 feet to the top. Looks like I'll be in the sun all the way up but that's okay, the promise of 2,000 feet of vertical downhill refreshment will keep my bike's chainring a-spinning.

Hey, I've just thrown on my water pack and I've nosed my bike wheel onto the trail. Come on, let's go have ourselves some mountain biking fun!
