Seattle, Washington

The Pioneer Square section of downtown Seattle, Washington is home to a very strange parking garage. Much of Downtown Seattle is situated on a hill that is now carved out and made undulant by human hands. Forced by gravity, buildings must angle to the landscape, and in doing so, create interesting perspectives of design. At first glance, the garage looks like the bow of a ship thrusting out of the terra firma. On second glance, one recognizes it to be a parking structure, but it appears cars parked there can't possibly sit on the level. But, not true, it's all perfectly level, it's the surrounding landscape that is rather angular. This is one of the things I love about Seattle, it's like a mini-San Francisco. Very interesting and pleasing to the eye.
