Cape Cod Canal, Massachusetts

Thursday, October 21, 2004

Next to Cape Cod Canal, near Buzzards Bay, Massachusetts, you'll find this enormous kid's marble. Well, at least it looks like one from certain angles. I checked Guiness Book of World Records to see if there was a record for the largest marble but I came up empty. If there ever was one, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see a picture of this huge hunk of rock in their record book. Come to find out, it's actually a memorial to New York financier August Belmont, the guy behind the construction of the Cape Cod Canal.
