After my little Jordan House tour, I make my way back to the van and get down to the serious business of bicycle maintance. The last time I rode my mountain bike I was screaming down the grassy ski slopes of Whiteface Mountain in New York State. As you can imagine, riding down a mountainside requires half a brain and an over-abundance of braking. So much so, on just that little excursion I managed to wear one of my front break pads to the metal, not good. Additionally, I've managed to gouge a noticeable trench into the side of my aluminum rim, all from the metal to metal contact between brake pad and wheel. Ouch!

Soon enough my bike is all repaired and I saddle up for the ride. While not planning to trek all 45 miles of the carriage road system, I do plan on hitting some of the more popular ones in an effort to capture their essence herein.

Click here for more detail and pictures of my bike ride within the heart of Acadia.

Back at the van after my bike ride, I pack it all up and head into Bar Harbor, ME to do a little shopping.

While walking around, I spy both new and old watercraft puttering around in Frenchman Bay. With the evening quickly closing in, I drive back to the campsite and work on my website for a bit before retiring for the night.
