Rise and shine! Well, lacking shine at least I'll try to make the best of my rising. The good news is it isn't raining... yet. No matter, I'll be spending most of my day underground, exploring the deep, dark recesses of Carlsbad Caverns.

Here's the Walmart in Pecos, TX, my campground and temporary home away from home. "We Sell For Less" is their motto, "Satisfaction Guaranteed" is another. Most folks either like Walmart or dislike Walmart. And then there are individuals like myself who are torn. I don't much like Walmart because they tend to run the local merchants out of town. So I try not to shop there if I can help it, but I do like to overnight in their parking lots. So, what does that make me? A bad person? A conflicted person? I'm not sure, should I feel bad about parking in their lot without buying something?

Wow! Apparently I'm not alone, there are loads of RVs parked here this morning. I wonder, do they struggle with the same like/dislike Walmart thing as I do?

After pondering the whole Walmart thing over a quick breakfast I hit the road. My driving today will take me north out of Texas to Carlsbad, New Mexico. Near there I'll find the object of my sightseeing desire, Carlsbad Caverns National Park.

A drive through the northern outskirts of Pecos, TX serves up rather dismal scenery. God, I'd hate to have to live here in the winter months.
