Same oil derrick, we're just a little closer. Fascinating, eh? Simple pleasures for simple minds.

Soon enough I cross over Four Mile Draw. Draw? Is that like a creek or something? Sounds more like what a cowboy shouts to another during a gun fight.

Four Mile Draw must be all muddy from last night's rain. Here are two videos, enjoy the draw. Distant shot video (1.2 MB), close-up shot video (0.9 MB). Funny, this is a desert, and there's all this water.

Seems nobody is on the road today, except for an occassional truck. As I drive along my mind starts to wander and I get to thinking. If my van was really a sports car I'd open it up right now because this section of road is both level and straight. As a poor substitute, I suppose I could crank-up the van's speedometer but it just wouldn't be the same. Oh well.

Right on! The clouds are finally breaking and the sun is trying to peek through.

Here's Orla, TX. Don't blink, otherwise you'll miss it. Okay, blink all you like, there really isn't much to see here anyway. The folks who live in Orla must feel really isolated? I guess some people just like it that way.

The countryside is still flat but the vegetation is larger and a bit more bushy. Perhaps this area gets more rain than other areas I've passed through so far during today's drive?
