In short order I arrive and quickly duck the van into visitor parking.

Did you know Taos Pueblo is a World Heritage Site? This is a pretty big deal considering only 830 total sites world-wide are on the list. Does 830 seem like a big number to you? Well, it shouldn't, considering how many things there are to see in this world. It's actually a mighty small number when you think about it. By the way, there are only 20 World Heritage Sites in the United States.

Click here for further details and pictures of my tour of Taos Pueblo.

My busy day of sightseeing has finally come to an end. The time has arrived to hit the road and head north to Colorado, the 31st state on my cross-country travel master plan. I set my sights on an evening of driving, and with more than 300 miles between me and my destination, I certainly have my work cut out for me. Staying awake should be the most challenging part of it I suspect. My good friend Paul lives at trip's end, just south of Denver in the suburb of Littleton.

Before I go I gas up. Yeah I know, boring picture, but I wish to record for posterity the price for gas. In the future I'll be able to show my grandkids that indeed the price for regular was once $2.09!

After filling up I head out of Taos with plenty of fond memories and an itch to perhaps return again sometime in the future, although it's rather difficult to say if I'll ever return. With so many things to see and do in this world, it seems almost foolish repeat things if the urge to return is just an itch, as it is in this case.

Just outside of town I spy this sweet place with a grand view. Thought I'd share it with you. When I think of living in the southwest, this is the kind of imagery that comes to mind.
