This represents a post-dynamite process of getting down to the desired contour. The granite is honeycombed to weaken the rockface then a chisel and hammer are used to break it up. Such rock specimens are well sought after collectors items.
Winch factoids.
Sculptor's scale model. As I mentioned earlier, the initial plan was to sculpt the torsos. Looking at this, good thing the lower rock was to weak to sculpt. This looks terrible to me. What do you think?
