Washington, D.C.

More blurry documents.

Ahhh, finally! The Declaration of Independence. This large, one page document was used by the original Thirteen Colonies to declare themselves independent from the Kingdom of Great Britian. Written my Thomas Jefferson, the document really pissed off the British Monarchy, so much so, they sent a multitude of troops to the States in an attempt to squash the revolt.

Here she is, in all her grand, blurry glory! The Declaration is broken down into three primary sections; a preamble, a list of grievances, and a conclusion. Some historians say some of the grievances were exaggerated propaganda. Now that's funny, I've never thought of the Revolutionaries as political spin doctors. Where they really? Probably.

All the folks who signed the document basically signed their death warrants. Victory in their quest for independence from England was their only option. In retrospect, it really was a good thing that they were potentially signing their lives away. Anything less than that may not have given them the necessary backbone to fight the good fight.

My next stop, the U.S. Constitution. The oldest codified national constitution still in effect, the Constitution of the United States represents the supreme law of the United States of America. Taking effect in 1789, this powerful constitutuion has served as a model for the constitutions of many other nations.
