The Washington Monument
Rising 555 feet skyward, the Washington Monument is a fine tribute to America's first man-in-charge, President George Washington. Dominating the National Mall with its lofty heights, construction of the monument was plagued with great controversy. It's a miracle it was completed at all.

Ulysses S. Grant Memorial
Located between the Capitol Reflecting Pool and the rear of the U.S. Capitol Building, the Ulysses S. Grant Memorial is quite impressive and imposing. Fueled by two, larger-than-life scenes depicting a cavalry charge and a battery of artillery, both do well to elicit an emotional reaction from the viewer.

World War II Memorial
Opening to the public less than 6 months ago, the colossal National World War II Memorial really chokes me up as I walk around its stony expanse. So many theaters of battle, so many lives lost. The elegance and grander of this place is something I'll never forget.

Vietnam Veterans Memorial
Almost 500 feet long and more than 10 feet tall at its highest section, the black granite Vietnam War Veterans Memorial stands in remembrance to the 58,249 Americans who died in the conflict. The magnitude of the monument, with all its inscribed names, is rather overwhelming. It has a far more personal touch, as compared to the National World War II Monument.
