As I drive closer my anticipation grows with each passing mile. The formation is really odd and awe inspiring. I can't wait to stand next to its lofty heights.

After my tour I walk back to the parking lot and settle down in the van to work on the website. When 5pm rolls around I decide to start my drive to South Dakota.

My drive will take me due east through the northern reaches of the Black Hills National Forest then due southeast to Rapid City, SD.

Before leaving, I take a few parting shots, I've really grown to like the monument.

And I get to thinking. Maybe I should just take it with me. So I wrap my hand around the tower and tug. It doesn't move.
