After eating I pass through Lake Placid then drive north to Whiteface Mountain. I have plans to spend the day there to mountain bike down the resort's ski runs via a gondola lift that will convey both me and my bike to the top of the mountain.

On the drive I notice the colors are less striking out this way. The forest is more rugged and the trees are less frequent on the hill tops.

I arrive at the resort.

Whiteface Mountain is pretty impressive. All the clearings represent ski runs.
