Looking up from my watch I get a start, Duncan has climbed up on the dashboard and is looking straight at me. I quickly realize he's anxious to leave too, he wants to get to Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream Factory sooner than later. He's hopeful he can tag along with me on the tour to get some free ice cream. I tell him they won't let pets into the factory but maybe they'll let a stuffed pet in, I'll have to check.

On the way out of the supermarket parking lot I pass by this Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream Scoop Shop. This really excites Duncan. I tell him our passing by the shop is a good omen, maybe he will get in on the factory tour after all.

My trip to Waterbury, VT will be on the road less traveled. I could take the Interstate but not being in any big hurry, I opt for the slower, more scenic route. On the way I notice these round orange indicators, signaling Halloween is just around the corner. As I pass by I wonder if Charlie Brown, with his Halloween bag of rocks, is hiding behind one of the pumpkins, waiting in earnest for the Great Pumpkin to arrive.

For a while on the drive I get stuck behind a slow log truck. The one tree on the left side, second from the top, is pretty big. Being in the Northeast, I'd think there wouldn't be any big trees left, figuring all of the old growth was harvested many years ago when the country was in its infancy. It's good to see there's still some old growth left to cut. Waaaait a minute, I think I should be upset. That may well be the LAST old growth tree in Vermont!
