Fast-forward to when I download and review the day's pictures. Close inspection of these two shots blows me away! When flipped 180 degrees, each looks like a French Impressionist painting. Fast-forwarding again to my trip's end in Jan 05, I must say these photos are near the top of my 10 best favorites. And that's really saying something, considering I took more than 53,000 photos during my 6-month cross-country journey.

Swinging my attention 180 degrees downstream, I see a recently restored covered bridge that's a stone's throw away from the modern bridge where I'm standing now. Upon closer inspection I learn this is the Porter-Parsonsfield Historical Bridge. Built in 1876, the bridge no longer services vehicle crossings, however, it does allow for bipedal exploration.

Click here for more details and pictures of my river crossing tour of the Porter-Parsonsfield Historical Bridge.

After my bridge tour I make my way back to Bill's. On the drive earlier I recall seeing a wonderous red tree and I now wish to take pictures of it.

On the way I come upon this oddity. Created by crazed man and tortured machine, I suspect someone needs new tires based on the roadtop evidence of this tire shredding spectacle. I saw a similar incident on the first day of my trip way back in July, but this one truly takes the cake in terms of length and wildness of rubber placement. Surely, this mega burnout is world-class, maybe even a world-record holder!
