I wake to yet another crummy morning. It's overcast, cold, and windy. Hmmm, do I really want to trek out to windswept Nantucket Island and brave the elements? Let's see. Round trip passenger ticket from Hyannis to Nantucket and back - $28, if I wish to drag along the van - $286, hospital bill for catching pneumonia while touring the island - $450. Ya know what? Forget Nantucket, I think checking out Plymouth Rock in Plymouth, MA is a far superior (and cheaper) idea.
So there you have it, I'll drive from Falmouth, MA to Plymouth, MA. Fast-fowarding to the end of the day, NYC is a bust, I need to head further south in search of warmer weather. My driving day ends at a turnpike exit outside of Trenton, New Jersey.
The drive to Plymouth will be a quick one, it's less than 35 miles away from Falmouth. At mid-trip, I pass over Cape Cod Canal via Bourne Bridge.
Soon enough, I arrive at Plymouth, MA. My primary purpose is to see Plymouth Rock, however, I'm sure there are plenty of other sights to see.
To help me with my sightseeing agenda, I visit the Plymouth's Visitor Center. Outside I find a map of all the sights. I quickly discover that Plymouth is a small community, so everything is well within walking distance. I walk inside, chat it up with a community representative, then grab a fistful of informational pamphlets.
