So I whip out the Rockstar for another swig. Oh, no, I have finished the can!

On to plan B, I snarf down two trail bars.

While I wait for the sugar to kick in, I perform a "tick check." On my way up the mountain I passed through a lot of tall grass and that sometimes can spell trouble. Ticks will sit on a blade of grass and wait for a host (me) to walk on by. They then make a jump for it. If they make a successful landing, they'll crawl around a bit, looking for a good spot to feed. Once located, it'll bury its little head deep into the skin and begin to draw upon the host's blood.

Tricky to remove, the best method is to use tweezers. You slowly push down on your skin near the tick's head then pinch its head with your tweezers. Once you have a good hold of its head, you slowly pull it out. I have tick repellent in the van but forgot to put some on. That's the best way to deal with the situation. Luckily, this time around, no ticks are found.

As I continue on the trail grows very steep and rocky in some sections.

Once I finally crest the mountain top I'm quickly rewarded with these nice views.
