Washington, D.C.

I pass my this waterfall and two inscribed quotes from President Harry S. Truman.

Here's the Freedom Wall, it holds 4,000 golden 5-point stars. Each star represents 100 U.S. military personnel who gave their lives during the war effort. Looking at all the stars and adding 100 to each, the resulting number is quite staggering! Even the 4,000 stars, all by themselves, look rather impossible to count.

In the pool in front of the Freedom Wall I spy two ducks who are just swimming around without a care in the world. They are completely oblivious to the significance of the waters they swim in.

More pictures of the Reflection Pool. Funny, some folks have to be told not to pitch coins or wade in the pool.

I continue around to the Pacific pavilion. On the way I take a closer look at the pillars, each holds an oak and wheat bronze wreath as well as a sculpted bronze rope. The wreaths represent America's bountiful resources and the twisted rope represents the bonding of the States that form the Union.
