Tennessee/North Carolina Border

It's been almost 3 weeks since I last hit the hiking trail, so I'm finding myself really raring and ready to hit the trail. Come with me now, the hike promises an unobstructed view atop Andrews Bald. Awww, come on, it's only 1.7 miles away and the hike should be an easy one.

My next hike will take me up to Clingmans Dome, the highest point in the park. At the top of the 6,643 peak I'll find a 5-story observation tower that'll boost me even higher in an effort to provide unobstructed views of the surrounding area. Come with me now. It's a short hike, but I have to warn you, it's a really steep one. No worries, however, soon enough the ascent will be behind us and the views will be before us.

After my second and last hike, I work on shooting a splash picture for the website. After much trial and error, a little jockeying of the van, and some cursing thrown in for good measure, I finally get a halfway decent photo.

Before leaving the Smokies, I decide I'll stick around to take in the evening's sunset. These shots play around with the dead trees, all highlighted by the angled, setting sunlight.
