My tour of Cape Cod starts out in Buzzards Bay. It is here you'll find Massachusetts Maritime Academy, America's oldest co-educational maritime academy. The college mixes military-like regimen with a 4-year degree programs that prepare students for seagoing, engineering, and environmental professions. The campus is located at the mouth of Cape Cod Canal, the world's widest sea-level canal, where it feeds into Buzzards Bay.

In the distance I see an interesting structure. What could it be? It looks like a bridge of sorts.

On the way to the bridge, I encounter this old train station. It's now converted to local government office space.

Tracing the railroad tracks takes me directly to the vertical lift bridge. Unfortunately, I cannot get very close to it, the authorities forbid it. I dare not try to trespass, there's someone standing on the bridge right now.
