Washington, D.C.

A little stream is running through the exhibit.

Simple things fascinate simple minds. Case in point, I'm really fascinated by this palm tree.

From time to time a mist is squirted from various locations within the exhibit. The humidity must be close to 100% in here.

This placard talks about why it's not a good idea to clear-cut the jungle and use the land for farming. The thin soil has little chance of gaining nutrients from decaying foliage because the above-grade portion of dense root systems suck up most of the goodies. As a result, the starved soil quickly peters out when farmed.

Oh boy, time to check out the second level catwalk.

With 24 vertical feet to grow, there's plenty of wiggle room for these trees. As they say, unconstrained trees are happy trees.
