U . S . B O T A N I C G A R D E N
Washington, D.C.
Here's an odd one, this is a Silk Floss Tree (Chorisia speciosa). Indigenous to Brazil and Argentina, the tree is named after the clumps of silk it produces. Unfortunately, there's no silk today, just a scary looking trunk. I like to climb trees, but I think I'll refrain from climbing this particular one.
Halloween is fast approaching, hence this scarecrow exhibit.
Benches are made available for rest and reflection.
Seasonings are the spice of life, no?
Live seasonings; chives, rosemary, savory, sage, garlic, peppermint, thyme, lavender, basil, verbena, oregano. Huh? I think they missed one. Where's the monosodium glutamate plant?
