Memphis, Tennessee

I end up chillin' in the van for a few hours. I figure I'll wait until nightfall for all the music on Beale Street to start. The night arrives and I step out of the van with a mindset for some blues. I've gotta find me some blues!

I pass by a club featuring an Elvis impersonator. He's actually quite good.

Here's a good place to hang my hat, Mr. Handy's Blues Hall. This small club fits only about 50 to 60 people, however, it's off-season right now, so the crowd shouldn't be too large.

I settle in to listen to some blues. Hey, that's the same singer I saw earlier at Handy Park. I've really lucked out in my selection of clubs, this guy is goooooood!

Here's some video of him as well as of other folks performing this evening.

I listen to the music for about an hour then decide to head back to the van. My busy touring day has really taken its toll on me in the energy department. Too bad, I'd like to stay longer and listen to the music, it's really quite good.

On my way back to the van I run across this interesting light. It's pretty cool, it mimics fireworks.

Unfortunately, my time wandering Beale Street has come to an end. I must say, I really enjoyed my short visit here in the heart of Memphis. A true mecca for the blues, Beale Street is the place for the serious music lover, the serious partier, and everyone else in between.

I give my tour of Beale Street 4.5 thumbs-up out of a possible 5 thumbs.
