After reaching the trailhead I ready myself for my up and coming hike. It'll be a tough one, 16 miles and more that 3,700 feet up. There are a number of signs at the trailhead. Some directional, some warning.

It's always a good idea to register when going on long hikes, especially when alone.

During the first few miles I find spectacular colors all around me.
