Today's ride will be a 11.5 loop with a ton of steep climbing, some of it technical. I didn't let that deter me when I selected the trail from my trails.com service. Usually when I select a trail I'm sitting somewhere at my laptop far, far away from the trail and think, "I can do it." It's a sort of armchair biking mentality.

Arriving at the trailhead I'm immediately spanked with a steep incline from the get-go. But hey, I can do it, piece of cake. Or so I think. But it's always good to have an optimistic attitude, right?

Destination Gold Hill, I'm on the right path.

So up I go then stop when I'm out of breath. How on Earth anyone can do this without stopping is a mystery to me.
