More riding and I start seeing a little more color. Yay. Red, orange, and a little yellow. But my stupid camera fails to capture it. Hmmm, maybe it's time to retire the old girl and get a new one? I'm starting to think I'm the stupid one, being too cheap to buy a new camera for the trip.

Oh look, a prairie dog town. Have you ever played the carnival game where you bop gophers with a rubber mallet as they pop up and down in random order? The more you hit the higher your score. Well trying to get a close-up snapshot of one of these little critters is even more difficult. From a distance they can see you coming and squawk out an alert. If you approach them they scoot into their holes, effectively wrecking any worthwhile photo opportunity. Oh well, they are fun to watch anyway.

After my fruitless pursuit of a satisfactory prairie dog picture, I hit the road again and encounter even more color.
