I return from the hike with sore feet. It's been a while since I hiked, all my activities on the trip up to this point have been cycling. Fortunately, all I end up with is a single blister on my little toe, small price to pay for the incredible views I experienced.

I jump in the van and head out to Yellowstone's Canyon Area. After a 30 minute drive I arrive. I then formulate my plan of attack. I decide to just tour the south rim, that's where popular Artist Point is located, supposedly one of the most photographed parts of the park.

Click here for more detail (and pictures) on my tour of Yellowstone's Canyon Area.

I return to the van rather exhausted. The day's hiking tally for distance and elevation clocks in at 14.9 miles and 4,600 feet. All day I've been eating only trail bars and drinking ROCKSTAR and water. At this point I really need to get some good food in me before heading south to Jackson, WY, a 2.5 hour drive.

I gas up the van at Canyon Village then inquire about a place to eat in the Village. It has grown late, 8:45pm, and I fear nothing is open. But as luck will have it, the cafeteria is open until 9:30pm, plenty of time for me to fill up and re-energize.

The complex houses a cafeteria, it's just down the way from the Registration Office.

The menu is appealing, especially the pictures. I may first eat the pictures, I'm that hungry.

I decide to go with the turkey dinner. I'm shocked by the amount of food they load onto my plate.
