Northwestern Wyoming
Orange bacteria colonies. The color indicates an alkaline water condition.
Silex Spring.
Fountain Paint Pot. My photos don't do it justice and half the fun is watching it slowly perculate (something I can't show you here, I have no video capabilities). It is truly something from another world.
A group of fumaroles, they all seem to be sleeping.
"Red Spouter, which originated with the Hebgen Lake Earthquake, exhibits the behavior of fumeroles, hot springs and mudpots. In the spring and early summer its pools splash muddy water that sometimes has a red tone. Later in the summer and fall, then the water table is lower, Red Spouter becomes a hissing fumarole."
Clepsydra Geyser spouting off in the distance.
