The fountain is dedicated to James Bowie, Davy Crockett, William B. Travis, and James Bonham, four of the most famous Texan participants in the Battle of the Alamo.
Near the fountain I discover the Daughters of the Republic of Texas Library. The DRT Library contains books and documents on Texas History, predominately during the years spanning 1836 and 1846. Only folks doing serious research are allowed to use the library, no casual browsing is permitted.
Wow! This portion of the grounds near the DRT Library is quite lush.
At the rear of the complex the Alamo Gardens opens up quite a bit.
