Eastern Washington State

OH MY GOD! It's a KILLER WHALE! And he is almost close enough to grab the slice of bread I've hung over the railing! He's a skittish fellow though, he comes and he goes. I can't get a closer look at him.

While waiting for the whales to arrive (which in truth they never did), I met sisters Paula & Rosemary, both are on a little mini-vacation. Visiting from Connecticut, Rosemary is being tour-guided by her sister Paula who's a park ranger for the North Cascades National Forest. I chat with Paula for a little while, afterwhich I grow tired of waiting for the whales so I push onward down the road.

Some views while riding down the west coast of the island.

Here I turn eastward back into the island's interior. The second shot is a picture of the hill I just went down at near maximum bike speed. I manage to hit 46.5 mph, I was actually catching up to the cars in front of me. After hitting the bottom of the hill, a new goal of mine is immediately formulated. This goal is to top out at 60 mph sometime/somewhere before the end of my road trip this season. I'm not sure if it's possible (or smart) but that's never stopped me from doing things in the past, and I'm still alive so I'm doing something right.

I turn south and am now on the dogleg to the island's southern tip. This is a view looking eastward.
