Soon enough I arrive at the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial. Encompassing 7.5 acres and divided into four outdoor galleries, the memorial is much larger that it looks. Inspiring those who visit with words of great insight and wisdom, the walls here echo a multitude of Roosevelt's famous quotes, all made during his many terms as President.

Click here for more detail and pictures of my tour of the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial.

Across the Tidal Basin I see the domed Thomas Jefferson Memorial. I'll hit that sight soon, I first have to do a bit of walking to get there.

On the way I encounter the George Mason Memorial. George Mason was the author of the Virginia Declaration of Rights, the document used by Thomas Jefferson as a guide while drafting The Declaration of Independence. Mason's largest contribution to the fledgling nation was his refusal to sign the U.S. Constitution because it failed to abolish slavery and was inadequate in protecting individual rights from the Federal Government.

These three informational engravings grace the memorial.

I make good time on my way to the Jefferson Memorial. Yikes! What an amazing tree. It's friggin' huge!
