Hey, a New Orleans cemetery. They bury folks above ground here because the water table is so high.
Damn, traffic starts to bunch up pretty quickly, I wonder what's going on? It's 12:30pm on a Saturday? Oh right, I believe there's a big college football game today, LSU vs Alabama. Things finally clear out and it's smooth sailing.
Just a little ways outside of New Orleans the scenery quickly changes, urban sights are replaced by oodles of dead and dying trees. There must be water down there I bet. Water and trees usually don't mix well.
To the north I see water, lots of water.
Oh, what's this? Oh, right, it's my pants. Sometimes it's hard to drive and snap pictures at the same time.
A distant oil refinery. No doubt processing crude oil that's been extracted from the Gulf of Mexico.
I see Lake Pontchartrain to the north. This brackish body of water is the second largest salt-water lake in the United States. It is quite large in surface area (630 sq miles) but rather shallow in depth (average depth of 12 feet).
