White Mountain National Forest
Southern New Hampshire

Almost there, only 0.6 miles to go. Looks like we're entering the "rare plant" zone, how exciting. Makes me want to go off trail and run around to celebrate. Wait, no, that's not a good idea.

4-legged hikers, one is making a fashion statement, the other has been put to task. Can you guess which one is the owner's favorite?

We are getting close to the top now, but just how close I wonder? Hey Bill, move your big head!

Thanks Bill. Just 0.4 miles to go. We're both getting pretty pooped right now. The sooner we get to the mountaintop the better.

After a little more hiking in scrub forest, we break out into a theater of barren rock. It's rather inhospitable up here where only the very hardy survive.

More upslope slogging. Every step we take is greeted with worse and worse visibility. Here's a video (1.6 MB) that'll give you a feel for the fogginess of the mountaintop. In this clip we are out of the wind, so the fog is somewhat slow moving.
