Northwestern Wyoming
The Upper Falls is interesting, it widens as it spills over its ledge. On the northern rim you can hike down to the top of the falls for a closer view. This falls, while beautiful, is only a hint of what is in store for me as I prepare to hike eastward on the South Rim Trail, a 1-mile trail that ties the Upper Falls to Artist Point.
I start my hike.
To my left I can see the Yellowstone River as the trees periodically yield their cover.
I decide to check out Uncle Tom's Trail.
"For an unparalleled canyon and waterfall experience, take a deep breath and descend this trail. A series of paved inclines and more than 300 steps lead you about 500 feet down into the canyon. Your destination platform from which you can see, hear, and feel the power of the Lower Falls."
On the way down I pass by this marmot who's foraging for leaves. Or maybe he smells the trail bar in my daypack.
