Central Kentucky

More passageways lurk around every bend. The cave is not only getting more confined, we're actually starting to go uphill. Yay! Uphill means we are getting closer to the surface.

Here's the first green coloration we've seen. It must be organic, which must mean outside is close at hand.

Oh my God! What is this? Truly, this must be the finale of the tour. Looking at my map, this must be the Frozen Niagara formation. It certainly looks like frozen water, or better yet, frozen orange Kool-Aid. The dramatic formation is quite large, spanning a good amount of both horizontal and vertical space.

Looking closer at the formation, I see nice examples of soda straw stalactites. They are formed by slowly dripping water.

Down the stairs Ernesta and I go. The lower we go, the more wonder we encounter. Yes, this is, by far, the most formation-rich portion of our tour.
