Central Kentucky

Time to pony up for a box lunch. I have to admit, it seems strange to have a food concession way down here.

While eating my lunch I meet Ernesta. From South Africa, she's in the US on business and decided to spend her Saturday exploring Mammoth Caves. I must say, what a splendid idea. After lunch we decide to hangout for the rest of the tour. It's always nice to have company.

Around the corner from the dining room you'll find the restrooms. Again, like the dining room, having a public restroom down here is a bit odd. What's next, a dormatory?

Me and the cave.

Before the tour restarts, I notice a number of folks who are working in the caves. Seems they're pulling out some of the junk that has found its way into the caves. This rope like material is metal electrical conduit. One of the guys in the second photo is a bit cranky. He's upset that I'm using a flash down here. He mumbles I'm a stupid tourist. Well, here's a little news flash to you Mr. Grumpy, flash photography is allowed down here.
