B E N & J E R R Y ' S I C E C R E A M F A C T O R Y
Waterbury, Vermont
With heavy heart the tour guide informs us the tour has come to a close. Many sighs can be heard as the tour group exits the room but our collective disappointment is slightly lessened, for we exit into the Ben & Jerry's Hall of Fame.
The Hall of Fame is cram-packed with all sorts of interesting memorabilia, pictures, letters, etc. Too much to show all of it here. What follows is just a small sampling from the wealth of goodies the Hall has to offer.
This display talks about the naming of a new ice cream flavor after the band Phish. There was a concert to kick off the new flavor and of course Phish was the headliner. All proceeds went to environmental projects related to maintaining the health and well-being of Lake Champlain.
I overhear one of the employees tell someone that this Monopoly Board is an original, an adoring fan created it and presented it to Ben & Jerry. I think the "Haggen-Daz Jail" corner square is the funniest square of them all.
Ben & Jerry use a unique method for acquiring new CEO talent. Who needs a head-hunter when you can pick your next CEO by means of a 100-word essay contest.
