After my final run I take a quick inventory of my bike. Not only is it filthy, I have toasted one of the rear brake pads to the point where it is metal against metal. Not good. I notice one side of my rear rim is scored pretty deeply. I also bent the seat, see how it's sagging on the right side? If I was a hardcode mountain biker I could have easily destroyed this bike. My bike is definitely not designed for this kind of abuse.

Before leaving I remove all my borrowed padding and put it on the ground next to the bike shop because they're now closed, it's past 5pm.

Well this concludes my ride of Whiteface Mountain. I'm surprised by the ride, it's a whole lot tougher that I had imagined. It takes a lot of upper body endurance to run extreme downhill. The only part of me that is tired are my forearms from all the constant braking I had been doing all afternoon. I'm pleased to say this is a brand new experience for me, I've never mountain biked a ski resort. I really liked not having to ride uphill, it was all downhill all the way. But most importantly, I didn't wreck myself on any of the runs.

Biking downhill at Whiteface Mountain Ski Area receives a solid 5 thumbs-up out of a possible 5 thumbs.
