Adirondack State Park
Upstate New York

After about a 15 minute ride I reach the top, only to find a bunch of dressed up folks which seems a little out of place. A wedding must have taken place earlier in the day and the bride, groom, and all their guests are atop the mountain enjoying the view. Or at least trying to. The day has turned out to be rather overcast and foggy. Hopefully this isn't an omen foretelling the future of the bride and groom.

There is an observation deck.

As you can see, the visibility at the top of Little Whiteface Peak kinda sucks! That's Lake Placid down there as seen from the observation deck.

I wonder if the same applies to bikes?

My plan is to bike down the mountain without taking any pictures on my first run. I need to get a good feel for the mountainside and don't want to be monkeying around with taking pictures. I run the course and found it to be very challenging. Frequently I find myself having to stop to assess the trail, to determine how I'm to get down without destroying myself. It's really easy to pick up too much speed so I'm constantly on the brakes to keep the bike under control. It takes me a while to ride the approximately 3 miles to the bottom and back to the gondola.
