T H E H E A R T O F A C A D I A
Acadia National Park Central Maine Coast
After a bit of climbing I'm rewarded with some downhill fun. At the base of the downhill stretch I discover Aunt Betty Pond. It's not a large body of water, perhaps small enough for even a so so swimmer like myself to cross.
Lunch time finally arrives so I settle down near the shore to eat, relax, and sun myself. All the while, dragonflies by the dozen buzz around me, dodging and fighting each other for territory. I try to take a picture of them but they're just too fast. I end up settling for these lilly pad pictures instead, certainly not as active or exciting, but interesting none the less.
After getting my fill of dragonflies, lilly pads, and lunch, I strike out on my ride again. Not far from Aunt Betty Pond I find this large meadow. As you can see, across the way the trees are starting to show their Fall colors.
The road throws me some uphill challenge so I slog my way along, all the while taking notice of a small brook passing by at my side.
The road enters into a switchback up the hill, and in the process repeatedly crosses the small brook. I encounter multiple bridges in rapid succession.
