In terms of monumental events that have hit Boston, tonight ranks near the top. Boston hasn't won the American Pennant since 1986. So far, they've managed to comeback from a 0-3 series deficit to tie the series 3-3. No team has ever won a pennant after being in such a deep hole. If the Sox win tonight, and no less against their longtime arch rival, the NY Yankees, they will have made baseball history by completing the biggest comeback in Major League postseason history. And that's a huge thing, considering how fanatical Boston is about their beloved Red Sox.

Aside from maybe the Boston Tea Party, in terms of importance, I couldn't have picked a better day to be in Boston. Sometimes it pays to be oblivious about some things. The helpful stranger tells me to take the subway to Fenway park where the event celebration will certainly be the most intense.

After pointing me in the general direction of the closest train station, I make my way, and in short order I'm hot and heavy into getting myself to Fenway. The subway proves to be clean and orderly. I require additional directions during my travels underground and easily find someone who goes out of his way to be extra helpful.

I finally arrive at Fenway Park.

Click here for more detail and pictures of a baseball game and post-game celebration that proves to be an event of a lifetime.

After the game I take the train back, then walk a distance before finally reaching the van. During my entire trek, the evening atmosphere is filled with heaping portions of celebration. Yes, the Red Sox have won the American Pennant and have made history in the process! The whole town is exploding with overwhelming enthusiasm and good cheer. The energy is infectious!

Luckily, my van is parked just outside of a massive traffic jam. I quickly jump in and make my way out of Boston, heading due south towards Cape Cod. I am exhausted now, and can barely keep my eyes open. Today has been a very long day indeed. 3:30am rolls around my watch dial and I decide to camp in Wareham, MA. I find a Walmart and park the van in their lot.

Uh-oh, a police officer is coming my way! I've had a long day and I just don't have the energy to be hassled right now. Come to find out, he's just making his rounds, and asks what's up. After I tell him, he just shrugs his shoulders, and tells me he's cool with my spending the night where I've parked. He then radios dispatch to post a notice about my overnight parking, so, no other patrols will bug me tonight. How nice of him to do that. After he leaves I quickly fall into bed and fall asleep. Tomorrow will be yet another busy day for me, I have plans to tour the entire length of Cape Cod.
