After a Herculean effort, I make it back to the meter and... BAM!!! I make it with 2 minutes to spare! Damn, that was a lot of fun! I feed the meter 75 more cents that'll take me to 5pm, the time when parking on the street is free. So, all told, I spent only $4.75 on parking. Not bad for parking in Boston I think. You have to celebrate your little victories wherever and whenever you can.

I jump into the van, clean up, change into fresh clothes, then head back out into the foray. Having missed lunch due to all my rushing around while attending to both the tour and the parking meter, I'm now sufficiently famished.

Some near-dusk sights encountered during my search for sustenance. We have King's Chapel followed by the Old State House.

A little history about School Street political life and political party mascots.

Instead of opting for formal dining at such places as Houston's, I go for Quincy Market. Built in 1742 as a wholesale market, the building also hosts a large meeting hall on the second level. Believe it or not, it's the most visited tourist destination in Boston, probably because people go there to eat more than anything else. I suppose if there was a very large, historic bathroom facility next door, I suspect it would give Quincy Market a run for its money in the popularity department.
