Apparently I'm not the only spellbound moth, here is a professional moth, probably hiding a full-format camera under the covers.

A long, narrow pond graces the center of Park Square.

In the distance I spy an ornate bridge that crosses the pond at its pinched middle.

I finally reach the outskirts of Boston Common. In front of the Tremont Street Pavilion is a memorial commemorating the visit of Pope John Paul II on October 1, 1979. It was his first visit to America as pope, and his visit to Boston was the first city in a seven-day, six-city tour of the States. Soaking rain failed to dampen the spirits of an estimated 400,000 people who showed up in Boston Common to welcome him to their historic city.

Looking around, Boston Common is a fairly wide-open space.

This pavilion leads one to the lower reaches of Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority, America's first subway.
