Northeastern Wyoming

This sign is somewhat ironic. The sign says to be respectful and stay on the trails but the Park Service allows the public to climb the boulders sprinkled around the tower's base and also allows rock climbers free climbing access from the bottom to the top of the tower. I'm actually surprised they give as much access as they do.

There are strips of cloth tied to a few trees. They are prayer bundles and prayer cloths. Have they been placed here by a local Indian tribe?

Climbers are welcome here. Some 5,000 climbers come calling per year to climb the more than 220 routes that exist around the rock face.

Apparently the tower is slowly collapsing but its been 10,000 years since the last column peeled off. I guess that's where all the boulders have came from.
