Paul Revere

Near The Old North Church you'll find this statue of Paul Revere. Ha! I didn't know he was a Boston Red Sox fan.

Shaw Memorial

The only memorial I have time to visit is the Shaw Memorial. It is here where you'll find the starting point of the Black Heritage Trail. This memorial is dedicated to Colonel Robert Gould Shaw and the African-American Massachusetts 54th Regiment. On May 28, 1863, Colonel Shaw and 1,000 black soldiers, the fifth African American troop to be organized during the Civil War, marched past Boston onlookers and into the war.

Paul Revere House

Here is the famous Paul Revere House. At 19 North Square you'll find the residence of Paul Revere, downtown Boston's oldest building. Built around 1680 on the site of a former church rectory, the home at the time was both expansive and fashionable.

U.S.S. Constitution

Anchored at the Charlestown Navy Yard you'll find the U.S.S. Constitution (aka "Old Ironsides"). The shipyard has a long and rich history of shipbuilding where, from 1800 to 1974, the shipyard constructed, repaired, and outfitted U.S navel vessels. Old Ironsides was a pretty big ship for its time, its length spans a whopping 204 feet from bow to stern. Launched October 21, 1797, the ship sports three masts, the tallest reaching 220 feet in the air.

Click here for more facts and figures on this grand old warship.
